Christmas Card Photo Ideas

It's that season! Time to get your photos for your Christmas Cards. So how do you make your seasonal photos extra fun this year? Here's some ideas to incorporate in your next photo session.

1. Use a Christmas or Holiday sign

Adding a fun "Merry Christmas" or other holiday sign to your photos helps make them easy to incorporate into a holiday card or use on social media to commemorate the occasion.

2. Bring a cute blanket

Want to make your photos look cozy and warm? Wrap up in a cute blanket and snuggle up with your family or your sweetheart! Plus it's a great way to keep warm during a cool fall or winter session.

3. Mugs & a thermos of Hot Chocolate

Another great way to keep warm? Bring your favorite, tasty hot beverage! You can use mugs or Starbucks cups. The idea is just to share warm drinks together.

4. Wear Santa Hats

If you want to go full-stop Christmas, find some Santa hats or reindeer antlers and take some silly, fun holiday photos!

5. Bring Holiday Props!

Christmas decorations, fun toys, containers, and all other holiday props can bring that extra bit of color and fun to your session. You may not want to use them for every photo, but the added variety

6. Wear Seasonal Colors or Fun Sweaters

Want to coordinate your session with your cards? Or simply need a theme? Pick Holiday colors or dress everyone in fun Holiday sweaters! Not sure what your card will look like yet? Choose neutral winter tones and coordinate everyone without matching to allow for options later.

7. Choose a festive location

When picking a location look for rustic spots with seasonal colors, like red barns, or locations with lots of Holiday lights. Other fun spots could be Christmas tree farms or even your own living room fireplace.

8. Have an at home session with your Christmas Tree

Speaking of photos at home, how about scheduling your session after you've put up your Christmas tree and having your photos in front of your tree. Nothing says Christmas like a decorated home and tree.

9. Do a lifestyle at home session

And while you're having photos at home, why not bake some cookies, drink some hot chocolate or play some board games? Pick a couple of your favorite cold weather activities and incorporate it into your holiday photos. You could even have pajama photos!

10. Include your pets in your Holiday Photos

And always remember you can include your furry friends! They can be just as big a part of your Holiday photos as every other family member!

What's your favorite idea? Do you plan on incorporating any of these ideas in your photo session? Do you have other tips, ideas or suggestions for Holiday photos?
