Downtown Columbia, MO

Downtown has many unique and beautiful locations. You can stop by the columns in front of the courthouse, take photos on the roof of a parking garage or take a walk by RockBottom Comics, Sparky’s, Orr Street Studios, one of the coffee houses or through Alley A. We can plan a day that really shows off your personality and interests.

Downtown offers a mix of storefronts, sidewalks, textured brick, and modern touches all within a short walking distance. It’s a great option for branding sessions, headshots, or couples who want a relaxed, city feel with multiple looks in one session. The variety makes it easy to shift between polished and casual without needing to change locations.

Mizzou

The MU campus features the columns, gorgeous architecture, archways, and open green spaces that create a more classic, elevated look. It’s especially well-suited for grads, seniors, families, headshots, or branding sessions that lean more polished and traditional. The layout also allows for a mix of structured and natural backdrops in one session.

If it’s raining several of these spots are covered for outdoor photos. With proper permission we can also slip into the library or one of the other historic buildings and get beautiful indoor photographs.

Columbia College

The Columbia College campus is a beautiful location with tons of green space, historic buildings and a brand new quad with fountain and amphitheater. Much smaller than the Mizzou campus, this location doesn't require as much walking, but packs quite a few beautiful spots into one compact package. Ideal for grads, families or professionals those looking for a blend of outdoor greenery and architecture in their photos.

Lakes, Parks & Open Spaces (Scenic and Flexible)

Parks and water-based locations around Columbia, Missouri offer some of the most accessible and versatile outdoor options. With open space, reflective water, and a mix of greenery, these spots create a relaxed and natural feel without requiring a lot of walking or effort.

They’re a great choice for a wide range of sessions (from families to branding) especially if you want something simple, scenic, and easy to navigate.

Shelter Gardens

This small park is a botanical garden and has a variety of plant life, pretty bridges and a cute little schoolhouse. With many shady spots, creative use of vines, and lots of green space, it’s a great spot for many different types of photography and does not require a ton of walking.

Martin Luther King Jr.Memorial Garden

Beautiful small park with a memorial to Martin Luther King Jr., beautiful trees and nice paved paths. Gorgeous floral gardens with plenty of shade. This park is adjacent to the MKT Trail.

Nifong Park

Located on the South side of town and housing the historical society this park can offer some really creative and pretty photographs. The park contains the red barn theater, a woodsy space, a small lake, the historical society buildings including the Maplewood home, and lots of shade. Due to historical society policy we avoid shooting on Boone Country Historical property grounds. However the remaining 56 acres of park (including everything listed above) are available for photos.

Stephens Lake Park

With it’s beautiful lake that is used for swimming and fishing as well as playgrounds, waterfalls and lots of shade this park is a great spot for unique and creative photos. It’s the best waterfront view you’ll find in the city.

Cosmo-Bethel Park

This small park features a lake with a walking path surrounding it, a playground and lots of green space, along with a cute shaded wooden bridge. A small park, but great for some portraits.

Cosmo Park

A large park with lots to see. Many sporting events take place on the tennis courts, softball and soccer fields here. A skate park or the walking trails might be your preference. And if not, just walk over to the golf course next door.

(Organic, Shaded, and Adventurous)

For a more immersive, outdoorsy feel, the wooded trails and hiking areas around Columbia, MO offer a deeper connection to nature. These locations tend to have more texture, shade, and variation, creating a slightly moodier or more adventurous look compared to open parks.

Rock Bridge State Park

Located on the south side of town, this park has a little bit of everything. Wooden hiking paths, water, caves including Devil’s Icebox, and of course gorgeous woods. If you like the outdoors and want a rustic look to your photos this location is great!

Grindstone Nature Area

A stunning bridge, great trail, beautiful field of tall grass and rocky streams. This location is great for the outdoorsy types who want to spend some time in nature and get beautiful photographs.

Capen Park

This woodsy park has plenty of rocky trails and lush greenery. With sights from the top of a gorgeous cliff face, a fun bridge and shady paths this park is a fantastic choice for the hikers and explorers out there!

MKT Trail at Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Garden

Beautiful trail with tons of greenery, stone walls, beautiful rustic bridges and loads of shade! This spot will require a bit more walking on the trail, but if you're up for a hike, it's well worth it for the views!

Albert-Oakland Park

A beautiful park with lots of trees, walking trails, cute trees, tennis courts, and tons of other fun spots for photos.

Take a loop around the park for some fun pictures.

and Winery

This location is perfect for a date and photo shoot. Open up a bottle of wine, wander through the vineyards and spend some time looking out over the river. You need to be a little careful of scheduled events, but otherwise it’s a beautiful and unique location.

Stunning hiking/biking trails with a beautiful stone tunnel. This one of a kind location allows for a fun combination of hiking, unique photo spots and close proximity to downtown Rocheport.
