Preparing for your session
A little preparation can go a long way in helping your session feel relaxed and enjoyable. These guides, blog posts and portfolio will walk you through everything you need to know:
What to expect during your session
If you’re feeling a little unsure about what your session will actually be like, you’re not alone. One of the most common things I hear (especially from families and couples) is: “We’ve never done this before… what do we even do?”
The good news? You don’t need to have any experience at all.
Your session is designed to feel relaxed, natural, and easy from start to finish. I’ll guide you through everything: from where to stand to what to do with your hands, so you’re never left wondering what comes next. We’ll move through a mix of lightly guided posing and more candid, natural moments so you end up with a variety of images that feel both polished and genuine.
For family photos in particular, flexibility is key. Kids don’t need to sit still or smile perfectly the entire time (and honestly, that’s not where the best photos come from anyway). We’ll keep things moving, take breaks when needed, and work with your family’s energy instead of against it. Some of the best images come from those in-between moments—laughing, playing, snuggling in—and that’s exactly what we’re capturing.
If you’re planning a senior session or portrait session, the experience is a little more tailored to you. We’ll build in time for outfit changes, different locations, and anything that reflects your personality—whether that’s a hobby, a sport, or just a vibe you love. You don’t need to know how to pose—I’ll help you with that the entire way so you feel comfortable and confident.
No matter the type of session, the goal is the same: to create an experience that feels easy and enjoyable, while capturing images that truly reflect you (and your people). There’s no pressure to be perfect—just come ready to be yourselves, and I’ll take care of the rest.
Weather & rescheduling
Because many sessions take place outdoors, weather can sometimes play a role in our plans—but there’s no need to stress about it.
If the forecast isn’t cooperating, we’ll make a plan together. That might mean adjusting the time, shifting locations, or rescheduling to a better day. Overcast skies can actually be beautiful for photos, and even light weather can sometimes add a fun, unique feel—but we’ll always make the call based on what will give you the best experience and results.
If you need to reschedule for any reason, just reach out. Life happens—whether it’s illness, unexpected conflicts, or something else—and I do my best to stay flexible and work with you to find a new time that fits.
The goal is always the same: a relaxed, enjoyable session and photos you’ll love.
After your session
Once your session is finished, the work isn’t quite done—but this is where everything really comes together.
After we wrap up, I carefully go through and edit your images to bring out the best in each one. This includes selecting the strongest moments, refining color and lighting, and making sure everything reflects the look and feel you saw in my portfolio.
One thing that makes my sessions a little different:
I don’t limit you to just a handful of images.
You’ll receive as many of the best images from your session as possible, so you have a full gallery that tells the story of your time together—not just a small selection.
And every image is delivered in both color and black & white, giving you flexibility and variety without having to choose between the two.
When will I get my photos?
Your final images will be delivered through an online gallery.
For most sessions, galleries are ready within up to 4 weeks, and for longer events, up to 6 weeks. Many galleries are delivered sooner, but during busier seasons, this timeline ensures I can give each session the attention it deserves.
If you have a specific deadline coming up—like announcements, graduation, or another special occasion—feel free to reach out. While I can’t always guarantee a rush turnaround, I’m always happy to see what’s possible and can often provide a small sneak peek when timing allows.
How will I receive my images?
When your gallery is ready, you’ll receive an email with a link to view your photos.
Your gallery will allow you to:
