Senior & Graduation Photography
in Columbia, MO
From prom to diplomas — let's make it count.
Some of the best moments of your life happen between junior year and graduation day. Senior portraits that actually look like you. Prom photos before a night you won't forget. Cap and gown photos with the people who showed up for you. And if you're walking across a stage at Mizzou, that counts too.
I'm Kat, a portrait photographer based in Columbia, MO, and I've spent years photographing seniors, grads, and everything in between. My sessions are relaxed, fun, and planned around you: your style, your people, your story. No awkward posing, no stiff backdrops, no photos that look like everyone else's.
Whether you're a junior planning ahead, a senior scrambling before the yearbook deadline, or a college grad who finally deserves a good photo, you're in the right place. I serve Columbia and the surrounding Mid-Missouri area including Ashland, Boonville, and beyond.

College Graduation Photography in Columbia, MO
You put in the work. The late nights, the deadlines, the years of figuring it out. And now you actually get to celebrate it! A college graduation photo session is one of the few times it genuinely makes sense to stop and document where you are, because this moment doesn't come back around.
I photograph college graduates and graduate students at Mizzou and throughout Columbia: cap and gown portraits, candid celebrations, sessions with family, or just you and your hard-earned diploma. Whether you're finishing your undergrad, walking for a master's, or completing a professional program, the session is built around what feels right for you. Outdoors on campus, around Columbia, in studio — wherever makes the most sense.
Sessions can be as simple as a quick solo portrait session or as involved as a full family celebration with everyone who made the trip. Either way, you'll walk away with photos that actually reflect how big this moment is — not just a snapshot someone took with a phone in a crowded auditorium.
Most of my college grad sessions happen in the weeks leading up to commencement — so you have beautiful photos ready to share by the time graduation day arrives, not scrambling after the fact. If you're planning ahead, that's exactly the right instinct. Reach out and we'll get something on the calendar.
"Kat was amazing! My cousin and I both graduated from Mizzou and wanted to do family photos to celebrate. Kat was able to photograph our entire family on Mizzou graduation day and made it look easy. Our photos turned out amazing and we were so thankful that Kat was there to capture this milestone for our family. I would 10/10 recommend her!" - Kelsey

High School Senior & Graduation Photography in Columbia, MO
Senior year goes faster than anyone warns you about. One day you're picking out your first day of school outfit and the next you're figuring out cap and gown pickup. Senior portraits are one of the few things that actually slow it down, a dedicated moment to capture who you are right now, before everything changes.
I work with high school seniors across Columbia and Mid-Missouri, including students from Hickman, Rock Bridge, Battle, Tolton, Ashland, Boonville, and the surrounding areas. Every session is planned around the individual, not a template. Your style, your interests, your locations. If you want to incorporate a sport, a hobby, your car, your dog, or a location that means something to you, we'll make it work.
Senior Portraits
Senior portrait sessions are relaxed, fun, and way less awkward than you're probably expecting. We'll talk through everything beforehand (what to wear, where to shoot, how to structure the session) so by the time we're actually taking photos, it just feels like hanging out. No stiff posing, no forcing a smile that doesn't look like yours.
Sessions can be done entirely on location, entirely in studio, or a combination of both, which is honestly one of my favorite formats. Studio time gives you clean, polished portraits great for yearbooks and wall prints, and on-location time gives you something more personal and creative. A lot of seniors end up with their favorite photos coming from both.
Speaking of yearbooks ... every Columbia area high school has its own submission deadline, and some are earlier than you'd think. A few have winter deadlines, others run into spring. Booking your session with enough lead time to get your photos edited and delivered before your school's cutoff is something I'll help you plan for. When you reach out, just let me know your school and we'll make sure the timing works.
Graduation & Cap and Gown Sessions
Graduation portraits are a little different from senior portraits, and a lot of seniors do both. Where senior portraits are about capturing your personality and this season of your life, graduation sessions are about the milestone itself. Cap and gown, diploma, the people who showed up for you.
These sessions work great as a solo portrait session, or with family included. A lot of families use graduation photos for announcements, for display at the party, for grandparents who couldn't make the ceremony — there are a lot of reasons to have them and very few reasons not to. Like college grad sessions, most high school graduation sessions happen in the weeks leading up to the ceremony so everything is ready when you need it.

"Besides being a great photographer, Kat was really easy to work with. She photographed my daughter's senior pics. She made my daughter feel relaxed, and that's a big deal as she really isn't into being photographed. The photos are beautiful. She captured some incredible lighting." - Tracy

Prom Photography in Columbia, MO
Prom is one of those nights that deserves more than a quick photo on someone's front porch. You spent time on the outfit, the hair, the whole thing and the photos should actually show that.
I offer prom portrait sessions for students from Hickman, Rock Bridge, Battle, Tolton, and the surrounding Mid-Missouri area. Sessions are short, fun, and designed to fit into your pre-prom timeline without eating up your whole evening. We'll find a great spot, get you looking your best, and get you on your way, with photos that are actually worth keeping.
Come solo, with your date, with your whole group, or some combination of all three. Sessions can be done at a location of your choice, somewhere that fits your vibe, or I can help you find the right spot if you're not sure where to start.
Prom season moves fast and session spots fill up quickly, especially in April and May when all four schools are running close together. If you're thinking about it, sooner is better.

Session Pricing
All senior and graduation sessions include your full session time, unlimited location and outfit changes, and all edited high-resolution images delivered via a private online gallery — no watermarks, no per-image fees.
Not sure how long you need? A 30-minute session works well for a focused cap and gown or prom session. An hour gives you more breathing room for multiple locations, outfit changes, and a more relaxed pace — which most senior portrait sessions benefit from. When in doubt, longer is better and we can always wrap early if we've got everything we need.
